About, Again.
I don't remember where it was, but I read that the old web was back, and I want in. Poking around, I found places like 32bit.cafe were out there fighting the good fight. Part of me that I was unaware of yearned to type HTML by hand again, to return to the simpler web of our youth (or early 20's). So, here I am. It's been 25 years at this domain, and I still don't know what I want from it, but I'm going to give it another go.
As I labored over how I was going to style this... thing... I decided to go visit it's iterations over the years on the Wayback Machine, and inspiration hit like a bolt of lightning. My favorite version, and one of the earliest. I made the logo in Paint Shop Pro, probably a cracked copy from a Warez site. (Statute of limitations, mofo. You got nothing on me.) I wrote the CMS from scratch in classic ASP. (Remember MS Personal Web Server?) I added a paltry amount of content, and then... that was it. Well, I'm doing it again! Wanna see the old one? Here it is.
Anyway, this is a thing. I hope more people make things. I'm giving the new, old web the same thing I gave the old, old web. and I couldn't be more excited about it.
Cheers, Jeff
